Fogarty Finger Architecture designs the interiors of the Lackawanna Café, which is a project that is found on the ground floor and mezzanine of an apartment building located in Jersey City. Local design studios Inaba Williams Architecture and Kyle May created the cafe that centers around bright elements and structural columns. The large windows were a focus during the design process, aiming to use light to guide the placements, color palette, and materials.
Principal designer Jeffrey Inaba explains that "The salient feature of the envelope is the double-height storefront window wall, which lets in generous amounts of indirect daylight. This accentuates the finishes of the details – the GFRC columns' semigloss undulating surface, the countertop and table's matte seamless surfaces, the pastry case's translucent gradient exterior, and the shelves' translucent texture."
