There is something quite stunning about the Knotted Thread art installation. Completely out of this world, it looks like a delicate vortex has opened up right in the middle of a gallery room in the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Of course, this stunning sculpture was actually meticulously created by man, one man in particular.
Created by Japanese artist Akiko Ikeuchi, the Knotted Thread art installation is being shown as part of the annual 'Nearest Faraway' exhibition. Although this isn't his first threaded endeavor, it doesn't make the process any easier.
The Knotted Thread installation begins with a foundation of cotton thread based on detailed diagrams and then a second layer of fine silk thread, knotted by hand hundreds of times over, is added.
