The conceptual 'Kara' coffee maker has been designed by Thomas Mair as a much more sustainable take on the countertop appliance. The coffee machine is characterized by its repairable design that allows the back cover to be removed, which reveals all of the internal components including the thermoblock, water pump and flow meter. These can be removed by simply detaching the electrical and water lines to accommodate end consumers making repairs instead of needing to replace the entire unit upon component failure.
The conceptual 'Kara' coffee maker highlights a modular contraction along with modules that can be 3D-printed, if need be. This would keep the system endlessly functional by enabling pieces to be created in a workshop if they are discontinued.
