Cuboid Balloon is a gigantic helium filled floating block created by Junya Ishigami. The work is absolutely incredible and very confusing to look at. It looks immensely heavy and yet it is floating.
It was constructed in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and is made out of aluminum truss, which is an outrageously heavy material. The piece has been filled with aluminum and is somehow floating.
This is an interesting work for the fact that it lets the audience come close with an object exponentially larger than themselves and demonstrating qualities that they cannot.
Floating objects are generally really intriguing to people but out of all floating objects accessible to the eye, a massive floating aluminum monolith might easily take the case for the most interesting one by far.
