The wooden sculptures created by artist Jeff Uitto are utterly breathtaking. This is due in large part to the type of wood they are fashioned out of. Using the twisted forms of driftwood, Jeff Uitto is able to create the illusion that these sculptures are not manmade but a product of the earth. It is almost as though they are straight out of a fantasy novel like 'Lord of the Rings.'
Based in Tokeland, Washington, Jeff Uitto has been crafting such driftwood sculptures since high school. According to his website, "Each piece is found and rescued from the shores of Tokeland, the banks of Smith Creek, or the valleys between the Willapa Hills. In due time the varied sticks, slabs, and roots are cured and then found a fitting home."
