The Stump is a personalized lamp—personalized for the region, that is. This purposeful lighting system was designed by Peter Bysted and the Danish lighting company Icono for the Island of Møn. Located in Southern Denmark, this region is considered to be a "certified Dark Sky Community" which means that the people there are "exceptionally dedicated to preserving the night sky through various means."
To fit the needs of the Island of Møn, Peter Bysted and Icono came up with a stumpy outdoor lighting design that seamlessly blends into the surroundings while also reducing light pollution. The island lamp boasts an oxidized cast iron body and a transparent cap with a "warm-toned and low-energy lighting fixture that emits a soft and radiant light when it is being utilized."
