Graceful Material-Contrasting Furniture

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

The IS Sofa by Inoda+Sveje is at Once Soft and Hard

— February 27, 2013 — Art & Design
The graceful lines of the IS Sofa provides a subtly unique silhouette that is very pleasing to the eye. At once feminine and masculine, the way the armrests taper off may be very pretty and the gap between the seat and the backrest very airy, but overall the aesthetic of the IS Sofa is strong and sturdy. Not to mention that the use of contrasting materials has a modern androgynous appeal.

The IS Sofa was designed by Inoda+Sveje, a creative duo based in Milan, Italy. The designers note, "The simple form combines its contrasting materials of hard and soft seamlessly in an uninterrupted flow of contours." Despite the use of two different materials, the organic shape boasts a continuous line from wooden armrests to padded seat cushions. The effect is striking.
