Japan Has Sponsored 'Initial D' Taxis Across Shibukawa City
Japan has sponsored ‘Initial D’-inspired taxis in Shibukawa City’s Gunma Prefecture as a part of the city’s tourism campaign. The vehicles will are designed to resemble Takumi Fujiwara’s Toyota AE86 and Keisuke Takahashi’s Mazda RX-7, in addition to a taxi design featuring the anime’s four original protagonists. The car uses a white shade for the upper portion, incorporating a black stripe at the lower middle and coating the bottom in solid black. Black Japanese characters appear on the white section of the right door.
Known as Takumi Fujiwara’s hometown in 'Initial D,' Shibukawa City has made efforts to revamp the city’s visuals in partnership with the Shibukawa Ikaho Honsen Tourism Association. The sponsorship will also see sewer hole covers of Takumi Fujiwara and other 'Initial D' characters across different city areas.
