We recently saw a story about ‘Forests as Lungs,’ but what about lungs as a forest?
28-year-old Artyom Sidorkin, entered an Izhevsk hospital in Central Russia last week complaining that he had difficulty breathing. When doctors x-rayed his chest, they discovered what appeared to be a cancerous tumor in one of his lungs.
When they biopsied the mass, they were surprised to find fir tree needles in the cut. Their best guess is that the man had inhaled a plant bud. The small evergreen tree was removed from his lung. (See lead photo.)
The event will be studied further.
