Ignacio G Galán works together with OF Architects to design a new home located in Madrid, Spain. It is defined by its dynamic sawtooth roof, corrugated steel paneling, and cool blue ceramic tiling. It is made for an aging couple who are met with mobility constraints. As a result, the team means to create a home that encourages social interactions and creates networks of interdependence.
The architects behind the project explain to Dezeen, "Care for and by older individuals has many times been enacted within the nuclear family, often hosted in intergenerational households. We imagine this project as an alternative to those, opening up a space for new forms of kinship, new interdependencies, and new forms of support within a network of infrastructures shaping a renewed social movement for aging in place."
