ICON, the Texas-based construction technology, and New Story, the San Francisco-based charity, have joined forces to help solve the global homelessness problem – 3D-printed communities. These shelters are crafted from concrete and leverage local workers to create structures that contain two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, and bathroom as well as windows, plumbing, electricity, roofing, and doors.
Due to the leading technology, these homes are printed in 24 hours as a community, ensuring each new neighborhood is close to essential places of employment and education. Families who receive these homes also have complete legal ownership on the land which their home sits upon. This provides a long-term solution to unsheltered families, with the hope of solving " long-standing social problems with previously-unthought of answers."
