North Carolina is looking to the logistics of adding a Hyperloop One System to connect Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill as well as the RDU International Airport. The Hyperloop One system uses electric propulsion as well as electromagnets to suspend a train in a vacuum. This allows the train to travel extremely fast, which maxes out at 670 miles per hour.
Virgin the company behind the HyperLoop Train system, indicates that incorporation of the trains would alleviate traffic congestion on local roads as well as boost the region's economy. Virgin has run a number of tests to the system near Las Vegas and has several other projects in the USA and the UAE. Virgin also states that its Hyperloop trains are more eco-friendly than conventional maglev trains.
