Nike's Space Hippie 01 Sneaker Gets Two New Colorway Designs
Nike unveils two vibrant iterations of the iconic Space Hippie 01 sneaker model in the options of either Melon Tint or Obsidian. The brand originally described the model as "trash" and it is quite literally made from trash, emphasizing a sustainable approach.
The shoes are made from at least 25% recycled materials measured by weight and the uppers are constructed from "Space Waste Yarn." This is made from about 75% recycled polyester material that is produced from tees, PET bottles, and thread waste. The midsoles of the shoes are made from renewable Crater Foam, proving that the entire shoe truly is made from "trash" in the best way possible. Each shoe gets a slightly squiggly Swoosh on the side with speckled accents from foam scraps.
