Los Angeles-based company Calico first started as a personal passion project and it has evolved ever since with a spotlight on its latest product: the Hi-Fi Console. The brand was founded by Geoff Owens, who was a recording engineer before he became an interior designer, and now evolving into a furniture designer. The console features a custom turntable that rests in the middle along with space for record storage below.
Owens speaks about the choice to change careers, stating “I always loved interior design. One of my favorite parts of working in recording studios was the interior design. The dim lighting, wood walls, and warm low hum of the racks of gear in a dead quiet room not only brought me a sense of calming peace, but created a space that separated you from the world and allowed you to get in touch with your inner creativity.”
