IKEA recently launched a creative, handcrafted dishware collection. The limited-edition collection is called Annanstans and is a collaboration with designer Martin Bergström and local artists in Thailand, India, and Romania. The collection will be in IKEA stores by June. The collection features tasteful wooden baskets, nature-esque vases, and graceful bowls.
The project was created to sustainably create jobs for those in disadvantaged groups. The collection challenges traditions, and for Bergström, "the big question has been how we can bring our differences together and make them work. We’ve all been pushing our boundaries, mixing my ideas with the artisans’ traditions and handicraft skills until we got just the right feeling to each and every item.” The unique collection uses bright colors to make for stylish statement pieces that are both functional and practical.
