Fundraising is tough for any charity or social enterprise, a challenge that GiveaCar, a social enterprise in the UK, wants to make a little easier.
The concept behind GiveaCar is simple: anyone with an unwanted car can donate their vehicle to them, helping the owner get rid of it cost-free -- they'll even send a tow truck at no charge. GiveaCar then either sells the car (or its parts) and donates the profits to benefit local charities.
Their program has already taken in more than 4,000 cars and been able to benefit 500 charities with the £500,000 (aprx. $793,000 U.S. dollars) raised.
"Every vehicle is worth something, and not just cars – we take vans, motorbikes and lorries as well," the website explains. "It’s an easy way to get rid of a problem and raise money for a good cause, and at no cost to you."
