Right on cue with Halloween coming up, a giant spider web installation together with a crystal studded spider is now on display at the Liverpool Biennial, the International Festival of Contemporary Art. LED lights are used to illuminate the web like glistening dew. The sculpture spans the entire area of Liverpool's Exchange Flags. It's probably not a good place to visit for arachnophobics.
The Chinese architect designer was inspired by the spider, one of nature's master architect. Ai Weiwei was Herzog and de Meurons collaborator on Beijings Birds Nest Olympic Stadium.
