Finding ways to stay active in creative and convenient ways is a challenge that many have decided to pursue; the GEWOS Rowing Armchair is one of the latest creations addressing this challenge. Developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen, Germany, the GEWOS Rowing Armchair is inspired by the sport of rowing. Modeled after a traditional recliner, the arms retract back to reveal paddle-like attachments. The chair itself is embedded with a series of sensors and microcircuitry to monitor correct rowing posture. It transmits data to the television so the user can view pulse rate, blood oxygen level and other progress metrics.
