Belgian design studio Van Laethem Architecten has worked to create a new garden office studio using natural materials. The team uses hempcrete and cedar shingles to form the small garden office for the team's staff in Alken. It is located in the back garden of Chris Van Laethem's home, who is the founder of the studio. The building creates workspace for up to three people.
Van Laethem explained to Dezeen "Except for the foundation of the outer walls, no concrete was used. The chosen materials for the floor, walls and ceiling make the structure and finishing at the same time. There is no intention of hiding, disguising or enhancing them. Natural materials therefore create a natural atmosphere. There is no need to add anything."
