A veterinarian and fashion designer, Doris Carvalho has combined her two passions to create Fur You, a line of high-end purses made from yarn woven out of dog hair, and is currently seeking funding on KickStarter.
Doris states that she only uses recycled groomed dog hair, and that she has it professionally sterilized before turning it into purses. Every purse is handmade and takes Doris 50 hours just to finish one, however, this ensures that each purse is one-of-a-kind. A single handbag requires roughly two pounds of dog fur, and sells for $1,000 with a portion of each sale going to the Humane Society.
While handbags made from dog hair is an admittedly bizarre idea, it appears that Doris Carvalho has put great care and attention into her Fur You line of dog hair purses.
