Lis Eich, a designer from Luxembourg, has created a seating system called Floora that evens the levels between seating options in order to foster a more open interior environment. When rolled up, the system looks like little more than a bench with a large cushion, but that cushion actually rolls down to serve as a carpet directly connected to the bench.
Though in Western cultures people usually sit on furniture rather than on the floor, such is not the case around the world. Sitting on the floor is far more common in many east Asian countries, for example, and Floora aims to combine these cultural sitting mores. The system allows people to glide seamlessly between floor and bench, a harmony of seats.
