'FIFA 22' Now Allows Cross-Play for Different Platforms
FIFA 22 will receive cross-play functionality in the near future for players on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X & S, and Google’s cloud-gaming service Stadia. EA has announced cross-play will be limited to ‘Online Seasons’ and ‘Online Friendlies’ game modes, which will allow FIFA players to play with friends on other platforms.
EA is limiting the cross-play functionality to only two modes to limit the possibility of introducing new “game-breaking” bugs. FIFA 22 will also give players the option to enable or disable cross-play from different menus. Symbols will appear during matches when a player on another platform, but EA assures players the core functions of the game will stay the same.
It is interesting to note that FIFA’s Stadia integration could offer a much bigger impact due to the larger pool of potential competitors because of the platform’s smaller player base.
