The Field Test Lamp may be based on scientific findings, but it is gorgeous enough to be appreciated on its own. Full of intricate spiraling lines that create a sculptural cloud, it hangs from the ceiling in a way that will inspire compliments and conversation. Once the latter begins, it does become necessary to reveal the inspiration behind the design.
Designed by Aminimal Studio, the Field Test Lamp is a decorative representation of the Earth's magnetosphere, the region above the Ozone layer. Made out of laser-cut acrylic, it comes with a half chrome mirrored bulb, which helps to reflect the light back up through the lamp. The studio writes, "The shade holds a soft, incandescent glow that works as a centerpiece for every environment."
