Formula One Driver Fernando Alonso Protects His Opposables
Michael Hines — April 29, 2010 — Autos
Fernando Alonso has magical, expensive hands. The Formula One driver, who is currently tied for third place in the overall standings, just had his thumbs insured for £9 million (almost $14 million USD).
Driving in F1 takes skill, knowledge and working thumbs. No expense was spared in making sure that Fernando Alonso's thumbs would be in working order come race day. Crazy insurance policies are nothing new, but I'd like to see them available to the masses. Fernando Alonso shouldn't get to hog all the fun. What if my imagination breaks--where's the policy for that?
