It's no secret that we like to keep something for nostalgic reasons when we lose someone we loved -- and in most cases, it comes in a form of a piece of clothing as this moving ex-lovers photo series shows. Photographing women wearing a t-shirt, a shirt, a vest or a sweater of a loved one, the ex-lovers photo series takes the audience into the lives of these women and how hurt they are for the love lost.
The sentimental 'Lovers Shirts' series is the work of photographer Carla Richmond and writer Hanne Steen who teamed up to create a set of images that expose vulnerability and the sadness felt by these women. Photographed wearing their ex-lover’s clothing, the women in the pictures are kept nameless as we read about their stories. The duo asked questions and talked to the women so they could genuinely capture their expressions when talking about their long-gone lovers.
