E-scooters that ended up in the canals of Malmö, Sweden provided the parts that make up E-metabolism, a collection of table lamps. This collection of upcycled illuminators repurposes toxic waste into functional objects that help to make the world's waterways a little cleaner.
“Our mission is to turn toxic waste in form of electric scooters from the bottom of the canal into pieces of art,” says Oskar Olsson of Andra Formen. After diving into the canal, the studio's designers disassembled the parts that would later become colorful sources of light.
Andra Formen E-metabolism designs are currently on display online, exemplifying how urban modes of transportation can continue to have value after the end of their usable lives.
