Divooe Zein Architects Repurposes This Abandoned Building
Kalin Ned — August 23, 2019 — Art & Design
Divooe Zein Architects creates an educational event space that will benefit residents and visitors of Taiwan. Located in the Shangri-La Park in Miaoli, the destination will provide ample opportunities for public programming, introducing more culture and a community-focused ambiance amid the trees.
Aside from providing new opportunities, this project is also intended to "encourage interaction with nature," which is an important thing to promote as "forests take up 60 per cent of Taiwan's land."
The net that was used to cover portions of the structure provide breathability and permit light within the educational event space. Elsewhere, polycarbonate panels balance out the composition with regard to texture. Divooe Zein Architects also infuses a series of rocks in the middle of the building. They are distributed in "an instalaltion-like arrangement." 7
