Albéa, one of the world's largest cosmetic packaging suppliers, has debuted the 'EcoFusion Top,' a single-piece all-in-one cap for cosmetic bottles. The EcoFusion Top is made entirely out of HDPE, making it mono-material and recyclable. The system for this cap works by being built directly into a tube or bottle and it simply flips open and shut. This is an innovation on the traditional flip-open lids that are built out of two separate parts that are fixed together on a bracket.
Albéa has stated that this cap is 80% lighter in weight, which amounts to a 55% reduction in weight to most small tube products that would use it. Not only is this more convenient for consumers to carry, use, and recycle, but the weight reduction means these caps are easy for B2B shipping and shipping to sorting facilities, as well as require fewer materials to manufacture, making them more sustainable than traditional cap in several ways.
