Mokumono, a company that is looking to make a name for itself by creating Dutch e-bikes using components sourced regionally, has unveiled the 'Polder,' an e-bike that's made from parts all obtained in Europe.
The 'Polder' e-bike comes with up to 25 km/h of pedal assist and just over 25 pounds-feet of torque courtesy a rear hub motor that is capable of producing 250 watts. As far as technological compatibility is concerned, the 'Polder' certainly delivers with the ability to work in conjunction with a smartphone app that is capable of powering the bike on when its owner is nearby.
Mokumono's co-founder Tom Schiller says this Dutch e-bike embraces sustainability in terms of its manufacturing ethos as well as shelf life. "We’re showing that you don’t need a factory in Taiwan to build good and affordable e-bikes without making any concessions," Schiller said. "We don’t intend to sell you a new bike every two years - we want to see you driving this one as long as possible. That’s actual sustainability."
