If any change is going to happen in the world, individuals have to stop the chain of environmental abuse beginning with young children, which is where the Dr. R.E. Cycler comes into play.
This adorable robot teaches children not only the importance of recycling, but also how to recycle properly. Commissioned by Waste Management and created by Florida Robotics, the Dr. R.E. Cycler (the R.E. stand for robotic environmentalist) is solar-powered and able to crush cans that kids feed into its transparent tummy. Although Dr. R.E. Cycler provides a simple activity for children, this robot makes recycling fun and understandable, instilling in children an ethic of reducing harm to the environment later in life.
Florida Robotics hopes to create an educational robot that will be able to crush plastic bottles too.
