The 'Disney Animated' iPad app gives users a behind-the-scenes look at the making of 52 different Disney films. Although hand-drawn animations are going by the wayside, Disney came up with a clever way to integrate them with digital animation and apps, as well as celebrate the talented artists who created them.
The $13.99 app brings out content from the vaults of Disney like concept art, sketches, storyboards and studies that helped animators to perfect the movements of characters like Pinocchio. As well, users can browse through Disney's extensive timeline of movie releases and create their own animations to share them across social media networks.
The app was launched yesterday at Disney's 23 Expo and it even contains some sneak peeks at some of the visual effects and animations used in the upcoming Disney animated film, Frozen.
