According to a study featured in the journal of Antimicrobial Resistance & Infection Control, companies are seeking to utilize disinfecting robots in response to the ongoing pandemic, which would reportedly help existing staff to thoroughly sanitize rooms in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
The UV lights that the disinfecting robots rely on would work as a "virucidal, bactericidal, sporicidal, and fungicidal," however "they cannot remove often pathogen-laden debris." This would enable them to function as an additional measure that would streamline the work of existing staff, however the hospitals that implement them would still need to employ trained cleaners to oversee the work of the robots, and ensure all protocols are met.
