German illustrator Dirk Dmizirsky is an incredibly talented artist. Take a close look at the gallery as each drawing featured was created using only pencil or charcoal.
“I choose drawing over painting,” he said. “It allows me to create many layers of lines and dots which react to each other in order to create a vibrant texture with diriections and movement.”
The drawings use photographs as references, but Dirk Dmizirsky states that he does not seek to draw an exact replica, rather he uses the photograph more like a live model -- a base for establishing proportions. This allows him to work like he would with a live model, drawing with more freedom and looseness.
Dirk Dmizirsky will next have his work displayed in September 2011 at the Stadt Hamminklein Art gallery in Germany. Visit his website to learn more or purchase his book of artwork called 'Lemonworld.'
