iOS 15 will Offer the Option to Keep a Digital ID in the Apple Wallet
Michael Hemsworth — June 8, 2021 — Tech
The majority of the physical cards in a wallet have a digitized version for consumers to keep on their smartphone but this hasn't been the case for government IDs, which Apple iOS 15 aims to change with a new digital ID feature.
The upcoming iPhone operating system will now provide users with the ability to scan their government ID to keep a copy of it in their Apple Wallet. This will enable the digital driver's license to be used just like their physical one and will even be an accepted form of identification at TSA checkpoints.
The digital ID function within the Apple Wallet in iOS 15 will be available in select participating states to start with more likely to follow.
