The international Diamond Conference in Antwerp has been postponed due to the world financial crisis. Apparently the bigwigs of the industry think that the time is not right for parading ultra-expensive rocks.
The Antwerp Diamond Center, located in the hub of the world's trading center for rough diamonds, unfortunately also had to cancel a gala appearance by billionaire Sir Richard Branson.
The event, which was scheduled for mid-November, is expected to be rescheduled for sometime in 2009; hopefully the markets will have leveled out some by then.
