DeviantArt Artist JoshWMC 'Princesses as Fighting Warriors' are Remixed
Erin Kirkpatrick — June 8, 2012 — Unique
The DeviantArt Artist JoshWMC 'Princesses as Fighting Warriors' series adds a rugged twist to the delicate damsels often depicted in fairy tales. This collection of Disney princesses has undergone an extreme makeover that has turned them into revenge-filled warriors, fighters and vigilantes.
JoshWMC's fan art shows the lovable heroines in less-than-familiar situations, get ups and sporting severely tempered expressions. Although not intended to be perused by little kids, these illustrations may in fact empower young girls to be more than traditional Disney movies suggest of young girls. These depictions suggest that beautiful women can also be strong and independent, versus Disney's possibly unintentional emphasis of the fragility of its damsels.
Now you can see Beauty and the Beast's Belle sporting brass knuckles and engaging in Muay Thai, Sleeping Beauty's Aurora as a stone-faced biker chick and Pocahontas as an axe-welding warrior. All of these Disney beauties boast heavy machinery and an artillery of serious business weaponry.
