Resembling the exoskeleton of a guitar, the Zoybar is the brainchild of Ziv Bar Ilan and described as “a unique platform for developing innovative music instruments and effects." Zoybar’s interactive site offers musical instrument components (currently for guitars) in order to provide “research and development tools as a sustainable playable prototype platform."
Modular parts are used to create the customer’s custom electric string instruments while offering the option to add special effects with controllers. The various components can be assembled in any combination the user decides. The interactive concept allows user to integrate their platforms with others via their forums. Users can submit their projects to the site.
Currently available hardware includes the six string kit and bass string kit, with more being promised for 2009.
