This decorated mosque is designed by Candalepas Associates and located in the suburb of Punchbowl in Sydney, Australia. The structure is absolutely striking, boasting a strong sculptural character through expressive concrete vaulting and a slick contemporary aesthetic.
When curating the appearance and layout for the decorated mosque, Candalepas Associates took cues from the traditions of Islamic architecture. The place for worship features two tranquil courtyards. The focal point of the design is the "central worship space with a concrete honeycomb structure" as it has a strong ethereal quality to it.
One of the distinguishing features of the decorated mosque is its juxtaposition of material, as well. A strong contrast is reached through the fusion of stoic concrete elements and warmer timber-lined motifs.
