A very talented artist out of Calgary, Alberta named Dave Lieske (aka Davey Gravy) has been producing some amazing cross-stitch artworks that boast a rap-inspired theme.
When you think of rap music and its culture, the last thing that comes to mind is elegant cross-stitchings, but I think that is what makes Dave Lieske's work so appealing. Dave takes the hardcore thug lyrics of popular rap songs and turns them into cozy embroidery artworks that you would find in your Grandma's bathroom. While it is certainly a new way of looking at things it is also somewhat refreshing to see those hard hitting words turned into floral accented art.
Dave is in his final years at the Alberta College of Art and Design where he studies drawing.
