Darrin Umboh's Vibrant Elevator Art Makes Riding Floor-to-Floor Fun
Bianca — August 9, 2009 — Art & Design
With artists like Darrin Umboh, elevator rides could become a lot more stimulating thanks to creative, highly colorful artwork. Umboh was commissioned to decorate the inside of an elevator shaft in in Antwerp, Belgium.
“This fully illustrated elevator-shaft is one of the recent projects of the Dutch rep agency Shop Around - mainly representing illustrators, graphic designers and animators and motion graphic designers,” Josh Spear says.
This type of elevator artwork would be great in big cities like Toronto where people avoid eye contact as if they think that stranger’s pupils can shoot laser beams. At least this way they’d have something to look at other than their reception-less mobile phones.
