This GarageBand-like dance app lets you remix choreography from the New York City Ballet. Justin Peck choreographed eight 1 minute dances for Passe-Partout, an app Abbott Miller designed for 2wice. He then performed and filmed them. Composer Aaron Severini also wrote an original piece for it in eight layers.
Passe-Partout allows you to create your own movement piece based on Peck's moves on your iPad. According to Abbott, the dance app intends to narrow in on the intersection between dance and design. By tapping and tilting the tablet's touch screen, you can re-arrange the different dance moves and music to create a new piece that you can play back and share, if desired.
While the ballet can be seen as an elitist activity, the $1 app brings Peck's choreography to anybody with a dollar to spare.
