Japanese automobile manufacturer Mazda has revealed its new CX-50, a rugged four-wheel-drive SUV that presents a significant challenge to the popular Subaru Forester.
According to the company, the CX-50 is the first of five Mazda SUV models that will be targeted directly towards consumers who live "active and outdoor lifestyles." Made specifically for the American market, the CX-50 comes equipped with Mazda's new Intelligent Drive Select feature, allowing drivers to switch between various drive modes depending on the terrain they are tackling.
In terms of power, customers will have the option to choose between a naturally aspirated or turbocharged version of Mazda's 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine. Both engines are combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox and, later, can be upgraded with electrified options.
