First Lamp designed the 'Madison Park House,' a custom-spec residence to be built in Seattle, Washington.
The house will be located on a sloping forest site. To make the most of the location, in Seattle's Madison Park neighborhood, the architects designed the living space to extend outward, making it look as though it is levitating amongst its arboreal brethren. But the architects' appreciation for nature is not limited to aesthetics; the house will be built green. More specifically, it will be an energy star certified residence.
The architects had to tread carefully when designing the residence, as the site has experienced a number of landslides over the years. However, the architects are confident that architectural development will actually improve the site's stability, thus becoming an attribute to the neighborhood.
