From Personlized Mueslix to Breakfast Bars
References: trendhunter
The biggest luxury as far as pre-made breakfasts go seems to be custom cereal and granola. Instead of settling for off-the-shelf varieties, discerning consumers (from picky eaters to those on strict diets) can now create and order custom cereal thanks to a number of different websites.
Take a look at some of our favourite picks for custom cereals, personlized granola, breakfast bars and protein shakes.
MyMuesli
The first custom cereal company to really take off is MyMuesli, a German start-up that has proven to be tremendously popular. Check out our MyMuesli write up.
MyCereal.com
General Mills came up with this concept in 2001, allowing customers to customize their own cereals online using the ingredients in their common breakfast cereals. You could mix and match Cheerios, Chex, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Cookie Crisp, Golden Grahams, Lucky Charms, Trix and Wheaties.
At double the price per saving, however, it looks like MyCereal.com didn’t take off as the site no longer exists.
MeAndGoji.com
This site allows you to buy custom artisanal cereal created by you out of their 30+ organic ingredients. They also have premixed cereals, including the wonderfully enticing Holiday Mix which is packed with healthy treats like corn flakes, sesame, amaranth, pumpkin and flax seeds, goji berries, cranberries, golden raisins and cinnamon apples.Featured in the gallery above is the [Pink]&Goji;mix to benefit breast cancer ($14). As you drag and drop your ingredients, it calculates the nutrition and price. Bianca’s Breakie Mix worked out to $14.35.
OnTheGoGranola.com
This site lets you add your own tweaks to their hearty base mix of “Rolled Oats, Fresh Orange Juice, Unsweetened Coconut Shavings, Canola Oil, Flax Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Wheat Germ, Ground Cinnamon and Ground Nutmeg.” You can add everything from ginger snaps and roasted soy nuts to rosemary and fennel (hey, some people have really unique tastes.) A bag of custom cereal costs $8 for the base plus 60 cents each per 4 additional ingredients or 90 cents for 5-9 ingredients.
Element Bars
This fun, easy, drag-and-drop site lets you design your own cereal bar, choosing from four different bases: chewy, oaty, crispy and datey. My custom box of 12 Element Bars, with a crispy base, apricots and almonds came to $36.
YouBar
These custom protein bars have probably received the most press. They have the widest variety of options, both in terms of ingredient and product size. A box of 13 medium-sized bars costs $38.87. Check out my previous review.
YouShake

The best part is that you don’t have to be Angelina Jolie to afford their custom luxury breakfasts; they’re all affordable and easily accessible online!
