A public e-bike sharing service is set to launch in the summer capital of India, Srinagar from Kashmir-based startup 'Curve Electric' in collaboration with Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL). The service will initially feature a fleet of 200 battery-powered e-bikes, with 50 already purchased and the remaining 150 set to arrive at 21 docking stations around the city by March.
The e-bike sharing service aims to provide a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transport, helping to reduce pollution and traffic congestion in the city. Payments can be made both online and manually, with docking executives stationed at each station to assist commuters. The service also aims to create jobs and cater to those who may be less familiar with the technology. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 750 metric tons annually, equivalent to planting hundreds of trees.
