These breathtaking paintings by Florida artist Sue Geiken demonstrate artwork on an unusual medium, feathers. Most of her work consists of pastel portraits, and Geiken finds painting on 'nature's canvas' to be very enjoyable.
She receives many types of feathers from people who wish to obtain one of her fabulous creations including crow, turkey and dove feathers.
Each of her original feather paintings takes five to eight hours to complete, including the drying process. More traditional works of art by Geiken can be found at the Fireside Room at the United Methodist Church, Hubbell House in Mantorville, and at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
