Award-Winning Single Malt Whiskeys

Craft Irish Whiskey's the Donn Earns Best Single Malt Title

Craft Irish Whiskey has earned the title of Best Single Malt in the World 2026. Its product — The Donn — received 96 points and a Double Gold designation at the London Spirits Competition.

The Donn distinguishes itself not through extended aging but through a deliberate, progressive cask management strategy that prioritizes flavor development at every stage of maturation. Specifically, the spirit begins in ex-bourbon barrels before moving through a sequenced series of vessels, including Tawny Port, toasted virgin Hungarian oak, and multiple varieties of Pedro Ximénez sherry. Each of these barrels contributes distinct notes of sweetness, structure, spice, and richness. Craft Irish Whiskey relies on additional techniques — such as varying barrel sizes and controlled underfilling — to increase oxygen exposure and alter the wood-to-spirit ratio.

Sequential Cask Maturation
A maturation model that stages spirit transfer through complementary barrel types to build layered flavor profiles that challenge traditional single-cask aging paradigms.
Oxygenation-driven Flavor Engineering
Controlled underfilling and deliberate oxygen exposure used to accelerate and sculpt maturation chemistry, enabling predictable development of oxidative and estery notes.
Barrel Size and Wood-to-spirit Ratio Tuning
Variation in cask volume and wood contact surfaces to modulate extraction rates and textural balance, creating fast-tracked stylistic diversity across SKUs.

Sectors Adopting This
