Seoul's Christian Dior Couture Store Mimics the Designer's Clothing
Cadhla Gray — October 8, 2015 — Art & Design
Dior's latest couture store is the center of attention in Seoul, with sky-high flowing panels that look like the delicate white dress of a giant. Located in the middle of the Gangnam shopping district, this elaborate brick and mortar design stands out from the rest of the perfectly rectangular storefronts, each aligned carefully with the city streets.
Architects Christian de Portzamparc and Peter Marino mimicked the flowing soft white clothing that Christian Dior is known for. It is made of 20 meter high fiberglass panels, shooting upwards with delicate curves, making it a stunning building without feeling overpowering or aggressive.
Within the new couture store there is also a spiral staircase, gallery and cafe, giving shoppers a pleasant experience to enjoy within the stunning architecture.
