When an artist focuses on particular materials, that's when creativity can get really exciting -- take the Color Pencil Shoes, for example. Instead of making sandals out of traditional textiles such as leather or rubber, Lauren Milroy decided to do something playfully unorthodox.
As you can tell (by the image and the name), these Color Pencil Shoes are made out of colored pencils. Although I can't imagine them being very comfortable, they would definitely make a statement as you strutted down the street in them.
A recent graduate with an MS in Design from Stanford University, Milroy previously studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California. By the looks of these Color Pencil Shoes, I can tell that she made the right change in career.
