Inspired by the city of Miskolc in Hungary, which happens to be the designer's place of origin, the COG Work Lamp embraces its once thriving industrial identity. Since it was on top of its industrial game back in the '80s, the table lamp reflects this past era through a rather retro design.
Conceived by design student Otto Polefko, the COG Work Lamp was born after a thorough examination of the machines and tools used back in the day. Polefko found himself concentrating on tractors and different soil cultivation machines because, he writes, "These people have a kind of passion for their job. I would like to create a similar atmosphere for those who work in an office, in a relative ’sterile’ environment." Overall, the COG Work Lamp is perfect for contemporary settings.
